On February 2nd Lenna hosted Eesti Muusikaauhinnad 2012 gala together with her friend and guitarist, Mihkel Raud. They were also given a chance to perform their Eesti Laul song Mina Jään with the band during the celebrations. The biggest winners of the prize-giving this year were the members of the band Ewert and the Two Dragons; they got 5 awards and beat the biggest winner of the last year’s gala, Lenna, who got 4 Eesti Muusikaauhinnad 2011 awards. You can watch the whole gala HERE, the interview Lenna gave for Õhtuleht HERE and the Mina Jään performance below.

Eesti Muusikaauhinnad is one of the most important music awards in Estonia. Every year the prize-giving is celebrated during the big gala that gathers the most brilliant Estonian artists connected to the music business. As we informed you lately, this year’s gala is going to be hosted by Lenna Kuurmaa and Mihkel Raud. The preparations have already begun a few days ago and today also Lenna has started rehearshing. She met with Riina Põldroos and Karolin Kuusik in order to choose 3 dresses in which she will show up at the gala on February 2nd. One of the gowns was made after Lenna’s own idea. You can view the photos from the dress’ reherashal HERE and a short video, that contains an interview with Lenna, below.

Yesterday, Lenna was a guest at the Jussi Gaala 2012; a gala of the Finnish Jussi movie awards. She came there with Vuosaari‘s director Aku Louhimies and spent her time also with other Vuosaari‘s actors (view the photos HERE). The main reason of her presence was the performance she was meant to give. As we informed you lately, Lenna does not only take part in Aku Louhimies’ movie as an actress, but she also sings a song which is included in Vuosaari‘s sountrack. The same song was performed by her during the gala. Watch the video and listen to this extraordinary song below.

Two days ago Lenna was a guest of the ETV show Kahekõne. She gave a long interview concering four main subjects: Vanilla Ninja, Lenna’s band, her film career (especially upcoming Finnish film Vuosaari) and her band’s entry in Eesti Laul 2012.
Refering to the first mentioned subject, the program’s host, Priit Kuusk, asked Lenna whether it is true what he heard about Vanilla Ninja’s 10th anniversary concert having been cancelled. It has been 10 years since we had started the band, but we were active only for 5 years. Now all the band’s members are busy with their own activities. In effect, we all have a lot of work and put a great interest and effort into what we presently do. That is the reason why we believe we wouldn’t concentrate on the band’s reunion as much as we should. Now. During the upcoming summer. So, we thought that it would be better if we make a big celebration for example when Vanilla Ninja turns 20 years old. – explains Lenna.
I do not want to be defined as a solo artist – says Lenna, when the subject of her solo career comes up. Maybe now it’s a good time to let people know that Lenna is the band, very well working band, which has 4 more members besides from me. For the role I have now, I am very thankful to Vaiko Eplik, who was the one that mastered my first album. Our cooperation was great, and always the same. I have been a part of my band for 1,5 years and its members have been changing during that time. Now, cross my heart, I can finally say that I’ve found what I was looking for. The team that is around me consists of the best ones from all, who I trust and who understand what I want to do.
Lenna’s dream is to go abroad with her band and their music. Maybe this year’s hopes, expectations will give us even more energy to work, so I could try to restore some of my old contacts in Germany. There are also other concerts abroad being planned. – says Kuurmaa. She also mentions that her new album will be released this year for sure, probably in the autumun.
Incidentally, the singer announced that besides from playing a role in the Finnish film Vuosaari (Lenna emobodies an Estonian student, who comes to Helsinki to study at the university and work), she also recorded a song and the video that would be featured in the movie’s soundtrack. The song will be presented during the Finnish film awards Juss gala in the capital city of Finland.
After being asked why she participates in Eesti Laul contest again, Lenna answered that she would simply like to represent Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest. I was sent to the Eurovision once, I know what’s going on there. A huge teleshow, trill-trall, circus, but at the same time it’s a very groovy experience and a lot of fun. And as I still didn’t get a chance to represent Estonia there, I would like to try my luck. – she says.

Last year, Lenna Kuurmaa’s band Lenna won 4 Eesti Muusikaauhinnad music awards: for the best pop artist, the best female artist, the best debut album and the best song. This year, the band is not nominated in any category, but it does not mean we will not see Lenna at the gala. On the contrary, she will be one of the most important people there, because she is going to be the host of the Eesti Muusikaauhinnad 2012 gala. The second host is going to be Mihkel Raud, Lenna’s guitarist. The event is taking place on February 2nd 2012 in Nokia Konsterdimaja in Tallinn and will be shown live on TV3. Tickets are available on Piletilevi and Ticketpro.

We are really sad to inform you that the concert planned for Vanilla Ninja’s 10th anniversary will not take place. Katrin Siska, band’s keyboardist, wrote an e-mail to Ninjaportaal saying that probably the performance would be cancelled, because all the band’s members are busy with their own projects and can not manage preparing such celebrations. You can still send in your videos about being a Vanilla Ninja fan, but noone can assure you if and what for they will be used. Anyway, still keeping the last residues of our hopes, we can assure you that Love-Ninjas.com will do everything what is possible to organize a fanmeeting with Vanilla Ninja. Let’s still be tough enough together and let’s not give up! Let’s all fight for the band which we have loved, if the band does not want to fight for itself.

Interview with Lenna and Piret for the FREE! Magazine
But it is always the change, isn´t it? If you change, people criticize and if you keep the same they also criticize.
Piret: But you know, for ourselves we decided that we do not want to do the same thing right now. We need some change, but I think that after 3 or 5 years or so it would be nice to come back to the roots of the band.
